Bill Huzar

Bill Huzar -President

Bill joined the Board in 2004/2005 and has served as Treasurer since 2009/2010.  Mr. Huzar has extensive experience in labour negotiations, communications and mediation. Bill is a consumer representative to the Canadian Standards Association, the Canadian Payments Association, the Standards Council of Canada and Consumer Protection BC. Mr. Huzar has been a Canadian civil society representative to the OECD internet economy conferences in Washington D.C. and Seoul, Korea.




Teri Rodgers

Teri Rodgers – Vice President

Teri joined the Board in 2009/2010.  She graduated from UVic Law and in 1986 opened her law practice.  Her preferred areas of practice include: family law, real estate and wills and estates.  Teri has volunteered with Access Justice and is a past board member of the Child Abuse Prevention and Counselling Society.




Louise Parton

Louise Parton

Louise joined the Board in 2003/2004 and has served as Vice-President since 2009/2010.  She has extensive experience as a board member and volunteer and is a founding member of the Downtown Advisory Committee, Victoria Business Improvement Association and Crime Alert Association.  She recently retired from her business as a Hearing Consultant in private practice.






Zoe Vollert

Zoe Vollert

Zoe is a Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution student exploring the different resources and mediums through which these services are provided. Her background is in psychology where she focused on social psychology and interpersonal relationships. She is passionate about bringing these elements into decision-making processes and problem-solving methods.





Bronwen Grieve

Bronwen Grieve

Bronwen is currently a student in the Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution at the University of Victoria. She has a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in History and Spanish from Dalhousie University and has also studied abroad at Universidad de Salmanca in Spain. Her strengths in communication and conflict de-escalation make her an excellent fit for the dispute resolution field. She is excited to work with the rest of the board at Communica to apply what she is learning at UVic to the real world.




Maureen McDowell

Maureen E. McDowell

Maureen joined the Board in 2016.  Maureen graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law in 1992 and has been called to the Bar in Manitoba and British Columbia. She spent years overseas in Africa and the South Pacific working for various organizations before returning home to Victoria to work as a family lawyer.  She opened her Family Law office in the Westshore in 2012 and became an accredited Family Law Mediator in 2013.  Maureen has volunteered with BC Families in Transition and Access Pro-Bono.
