Rebecca Alleyne
Comprehensive Family Mediator, Lawyer, BComm., LL.B.

Why do you do the work you do?

I have chosen to work exclusively in mediation because I believe that it is the best approach for the majority of family circumstances.  By shifting the focus of the dispute away from it being a fight about the past and onto it being about a plan to move forward, I feel like I doing the best I can to help people through their dispute in a positive way.

Specialties: I work exclusively in family matters as a mediator and coach

Hobbies and Interests: With two little kids, my hobby list has shrunk to simply caring for and spending time with my two little kids.  That makes me sound boring, but I love the life I have.

Do you work with other agencies or organizations? (and which ones):  I also have a private family mediation practice

Lisa Arora

Why do you do the work you do:

I believe people who choose to solve their differences collaboratively in mediation deserve every possible chance for success. That’s why I became passionate about combining mediation process with the use of large-scale imagery to support parties in the process of communicating about their issues and working actively with their information while they make life-changing plans, decisions and agreements.

Helping people to SEE for themselves that they can solve their issues, move on… and come out stronger after it all. That’s why I do what I do.

Why do you do the work you do?

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a FMC Certified Comprehensive Family Mediator.   I am passionate about learning and have studied many ways of assisting you to resolve the conflict in your life.  Some of the programs I have studied include

The Justice Institute Family Mediation Certificate, The Bader/Pearson Model of Couple Therapy, Discernment Counselling, and The Gottman Method.  I have been certified as a Family Mediator since 2013 and I use therapeutic interventions in my mediations because the people in the process matter to me.  I think that it is important to remember that family conflict is happening in families and the people involved continue to be family members after mediation.  Therefore, whatever I can do to enhance effective conflict resolution that extends beyond the mediation room is of value.
