Rebecca Alleyne
Mediator
Rebecca is a lawyer-mediator who assists people in family and community matters. She is an accredited Family Law Mediator with the Law Society of BC, and a member of the MediateBC Civil Roster of Mediators. Rebecca uses her legal experience to support and facilitate effective discussions and negotiate quality agreements in a cost-effective and timely way.
Roy Asselstine
Facilitator and Mediator
Roy holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management from Royal Roads University and is a civil mediator. He is also completing his qualifications to be a certified family mediator. With over 25 years business experience Roy has lived and worked in Singapore. His background includes extensive intercultural experience gained while implementing regional plans for fourteen countries. He has a strong understanding of the forces at play in inter-cultural work and knows a lot of compromise and cultural understanding are required in such activities.
Joan Cotie
Mediator and Arbitrator
Joan is a Registered Social Worker (RSW); holds a Masters of Social Work Degree (MSW); maintains Arbitrator Certification (BCAMI), received a Certificate in Conflict Resolution, and has Chartered Mediator (CMed) Designation (ADR Canada). She is also a Parent Coordinator.
Brad Crewson
Facilitator
Brad has over 15 years of experience in the social services and counselling fields and has spent the last 7 years managing supported housing and coordinating support for homeless individuals in Victoria. Previously he has worked on a variety of projects for people managing mental health and substance use concerns including skills development, employment counselling, and youth work. More recently Brad has pursued his passion for alternate dispute resolution. He completed the Mediation Certificate program with the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC) in 2009 and restorative justice facilitator training. Along with his duties managing the Streets to Homes program for Pacifica Housing, Brad provides mediation services for neighbourhood disputes as well as coaching mediation courses for the JIBC and the University of Victoria’s MA of Dispute Resolution program. Brad has chaired or facilitated numerous collaborative initiatives within Victoria’s social service community including the Downtown Service Providers Committee, the ACT teams Community Advisory Board and the Greater Victoria Centralised Access to Supported Housing Program. He is also an active board member and volunteer coordinator for Restorative Justice Oak Bay.
Bill Murphy-Dyson
Mediator and Arbitrator
Bill is a lawyer-mediator and arbitrator. He was called to the Bar in 1984 after serving as Law Clerk to Mr. Justice McIntyre of the Supreme Court of Canada. Bill is best known for his advocacy skills, and is also a skilled Mediator, Arbitrator, and member of Mediate B.C. He is a member of the Trial Lawyers’ Association of B.C., the American Association of Justice, the International Courts of Justice, as well as the Canadian Bar Association and Victoria Bar Association. Bill is an active member of the local community, as Chair of the Oak Bay Tea Party Society, Board Member of the Belfry Theatre Society and a past member of the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Greater Victoria.
Tammy Van Hinte
Mediator, Coach and Facilitator
Tammy is an FMC Certified Family Mediator who specializes in working with families who are separating or divorcing. She has over 25 years of experience working in social work/counselling positions providing support to families. She has provided supervised visitation, supported families experiencing homelessness and/or domestic violence, and provided goal specific service to teen mothers. She has also worked for many years with children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Ben Ziegler
Mediator and Facilitator
Ben is a Workplace Conflict Management & Collaboration Specialist. Through 1:1 coaching, interpersonal mediation, systems design and training workshops, he supports workplace leaders who want to proactively manage manage conflict constructively, cost-effectively and fairly. From 2003-2015, he mediated 500 business and community disputes, and mentored dozens of mediators, as part of the BC Court Mediation Program. He is a Certified Workplace Fairness Analyst, member of the BC Mediator Roster (Civil) and certified to use the Conflict Dynamics Profile (R) individual and 360 assessment instruments. He has extensive experience working virtually as an online mediator, online dispute resolution consultant to the BC government, facilitator of virtual project teams and e-learning developer.
